Did you enjoy my re-cap of the first two days of Fitcation '13 on my last blog post? Just writing about it made me want to go back. ;)
Now, on to day 3.
We started off the day by taking a drive to San Simeon to visit Heart Castle.
Once we were there, we watch the film "Hearst Castle - Building the Dream" on the five-story screen theater. It's an interesting short film combining vintage flim clips and original cinematography which at times made me a little motion sick (I'm sensative that way though...I didn't hear anyone else mention that they felt that way too watching it.)
Next, we hopped on the bus and went up the mountain to the Castle!
Once we arrived we were greeted by a friendly tour guide who took us on the Grand Rooms Tour.
After the tour we had time to wonder around outside...I made my way to the Neptune pool.
And then I made my way to the Roman pool.
The thing I like most about Hearst Castle is the attention to detail. In this modern day of sleek and minimalist design it's cool to see how much thought and detail went into the designs there. It's totally not my taste overall, but I can appreciate the thoughtful details.
Ok, so after that we made our way back down the mountain and to the beautiful little town of Cambria for lunch and yoga on the beach.
I love Cambria, but goodnes gracious every time I'm there I'm freezing! -So travelers beware, and take a jacket!
Surprisingly though, down on the sand by the bridge it's much, much warmer! I was able to peel off layer and enjoy doing yoga there.
Next stop was over in Morro Bay at Kayak Horizons for a little kayak ride.
There were other people doing stand-up paddle boarding there, which I'd love to do on my next visit!
After kayaking we walked a few doors down to the Morro Bay Yacht Club...the view from there was pretty cool!
We had dinner that night at Eatz, which had yummy wholesome food with local fresh ingredients...so good! And Tolosa vineyards was there too. We then had some time to explore downtown San Luis Obispo where I found an awesome shop called Hands Gallery that sold all handmade stuff! (If you read the other side of my blog, creativitE, you know I'm really into handmade!)
And just like that, Fitcation '13 was magically over.
disclaimer: All photo of Hearts Castle were taken with permission to publish. All photos were taken by me unless noted differently. As part of the Fitcation I was given a whole bunch of products, experiences, etc. Everything I review is of my honest opinion and experience.
