Crocheted Slouchy Hat

I made this awhile ago, and am just now getting around to sharing it with you...I've been really bad like that lately!

Crochet Hat1My Mom had actually been creating a hat from this pattern when she ran into an issue, so I grabbed this awesome yarn, picked up my hook & got going so I could trouble shoot it.  I was planning on just frogging it (ripping it out) after I was done, but I really like how it turned out so it's now a keeper!

Starlight- Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn

You probably can't tell from the photo of the finished hat, but I used the "Starlight" Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn for this...LOVE it! It has just the perfect amount of shimmery gold strands running through it's creamy softness.

Here's some other angled shots I took with my cell phone when I was trying to decide if I would frog it or not.

Fabric Painting & Crochet Headbands

While I may not be posting a lot right now, it doesn't mean I haven't been creating a lot. I've been working on a lot of surface designs for my Altered Art Attire online workshop (aka: using mixed media on fabric to make accessories & other fun stuff) and also I've been crocheting up a storm at night when I can.

If you're curious about my workshop (or the rest of my life) you can follow me on Instagram for a peeks at some of what I'm up to like this piece of fabric I started creating...

So here are some quick headbands I made using the Jenna Headband pattern.

I love that there's room for a button at the end...in fact, on the green one I ended up making it a wee bit too long because I was too lazy to get up and grab a ruler and so I added two buttons, and now it's adjustable!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!  (insert the sound of one of those crazy, loud party horns here)

Christmas 2012I hope you had a fantastic holiday time with your family and friends. We had a great time, busy, but not too busy to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas....Jesus' birth, our salvation, the love of our family and friends.

I've been crafting and baking away over the holidays, and since I'm a firm believer in taking time for my family, I've held off on blogging about every little detail here.  And frankly, I just needed a little break! If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instgram, etc you probably have a pretty good idea of a lot of the things I've been up to anyway LOL.

I've also been crocheting a lot at night when we're just relaxing, or watching a movie...like Elf (one of my faves!!!)  I hope to get photos edited of those projects sooner or later and I'll post all about them here on my blog...and to tide you over here's a photo of my niece wearing her new hat I made her.  :)  She's adorable!

Here's the pattern I went off of for it.  I'm loving how it turned out and that I had the perfect button in my stash to add to the flower's center!

And here's how the hat looks off her precious little head.

Crocheting Away Gifts & Photoshop Elements 11 Winner

With Christmas coming up I've been working on some crochet projects in "my spare time" (which is basically any time I'm not working on CHA & other projects LOL).

Since this is a gift I can't reveal it all yet, but here's a little peek that I shared on my Instagram feed:

CrochetI have some other things I'm crocheting as well, but I can't share those yet.  ;)

Speaking of crocheting....how do you store your left over yarn?

If there's not much left I re-roll my ball and then tag it with the type and color like this:

Yes, it's a heatwave and I'm knitting.

Erin Bassett - Knook Knitting
I know it's crazy, but as much as I hate to admit it...the holidays are coming up!  I really can't believe how quick this year has flown by!!

Now, any of you familiar with knitting and crocheting may look at these photos and think "um, I thought she said she was knitting, I see a crochet hook"...well, you'd be right, kind of. You see, I'm using a Knook.

Knook Beginner Set

When I first saw the Knook I thought it seemed like a great idea, but I was wondering if it would actually work well and if I'd actually figure out how to use it.

Now, since I do more crocheting then knitting I did have to turn a switch on in my brain so I could remember to knit with it instead of what the muscle memory in my hands wanted to do...crochet.  But the videos that are mentioned in the instruction booklet were very clear on how to do it and I picked it up really quickly.  Here's my first swatch doing a garter stitch...

And here's the scarf I'm currently making along with the Knook in action. The red cord (it comes with three different colors) acts as one of your knitting needles, but is (obviously) flexible compared with traditional knitting needles so it is easy to work with.

So, a couple of TV shows later this is what I have...it's a good start.  Hopefully I don't get distracted and it will get finished by Christmas time!!  I'd love to make myself a hat next...or maybe a blanket.
