I was inspired to do these pages after watching Tracy Verdugo's workshop at 21 Secrets. I'm having so much fun with those workshops!  (There's still time to join us over there too if you've been on the's VERY reasonably priced too, check it out HERE.)

I thought it was pretty cool to include a ton of my thumb prints too. They were all made using only 3 colors of paint + black and white.  Fun!

In other news, I'm SUPER excited to be flying out to surprise my oldest niece on her birthday tomorrow morning!! Woo-hoo, I feel like it's Christmas Eve!!

Art Journaling & An Instagram Photo Book

Quick, someone give me a gold star!

I actually finished my art journal swap pages before they were due!!

Change - web
Supplies: PAINT - DecoArt - Pumpkin, Foliage Green, Green Tea, Moon Yellow, Razzle Berry, Desert Turquoise, Dioxazine Purple, Snow White; Golden - Prussian Blue Hue  PENS - Faber Castell PITT pens, White Uniball Signo

I'm having so much fun with this swap!  If you missed my swap page for April, you can go check that out. And you can see ones other's have made by searching the hashtag "#FJSWAP" on Instagram. (Oh, and you can follow me on Instagram here too if you so desire.)

Also, you know how I love making digi-scrapbooks? Well, I had the opportunity to test out the Mosaic app (download it here) and I made a quick video about my experience.  Let me tell you, I've made a few books with other manufactures, and this is by far the easiest & quickest to do!

Now I will say that if you're an avid digi-scrapper and are computer savvy this may not be the app you are looking for to make a detailed photo book.  It's more for the "I have all these photos, I want to make into a quick book, and I only have 5 minuets to do it" type of person. Yes, it's that easy!

Oh, and did I mention I got it in 3 days?  Yeah, they're quick!!

And sorry Droid users, so far they only have an Apple app.  :(

Drawing FACEcinating Girls

Confession time.  I haven't painted a face as my main subject in over a year.  My last face was this one:

I have no idea why I stopped, I really like to paint them.  I was thinking that I really need to get back into it again...and then I saw that Andrea was teaching an online workshop "FACEcinating Girls" so I took the plunge and signed up.  I always like to learn new ways of doing things and I really like Andrea's style.  She also encouraged us to start out using pencils, which isn't a medium I use often, so that's been good to get me out of my rut.

Here's the faces I did week 1...

Art Journal Swapping!

A bunch of Instagram friends and I are swapping art journals this year and like always I procrastinated until almost the last day before I got started working on it LOL.  The good news is that I'm done and it's on it's way to the next friend.

Here's the page I did in Pia's art journal...

Here's a closer view of those sea horses...
Erin Bassett - FJSWAP Pages - April 2013I wasn't quite sure what type of eye they have so I winged it.  ;)

For the lettering side of the layout I hand wrote "peace" and stamped the rest.  It reads: PEACE: It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be there in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
