Who want to win some crochet books???

Woo-hoo, I love new crafty books!!  I just got two review copies of some great crochet ones and they look fabulous!  I can't wait to start on some projects with them!!

Crochetedflowers-PB-250Crocheted Flowers by Nicky Epstein is making me super happy!!  There's more then 50 different flower designs (and some leaves!) in here and twelve full-scale projects included in this book.

Just flipping through this book I don't even know which one to do first!  She covers everything...layered petal flowers, one-piece flowers, twisted-technique flowers, felted flowers, chain stitch & ball flowers, and leaves.

The color photography is goregous, and the patterns are clear and contain graphics when necessary.

51bFKGUhq+L._SL500_AA300_Vogue Knitting Stitchionary Volume Four: Crochet is a phenomenal resource for anyone interested in crochet.  Just as the other Stitionary books about knitting (check out my reviews here), this is geared to be a mega stitch and pattern resource since it contains so much information in it!

It's awesome for any skill level, from beginners to advanced since it has over 150 patterns.  Yikes, that will keep ya busy!  ;)

The color photos in this book are awesome too, they are close ups that show great detail.  There are also illustrations along with the pattern instructions.

Great new blog readers!!

The publisher of these books is going to giveaway one of these books to a lucky blog reader!!  Please leave a comment below to enter.  A winner will be drawn on August 4th, 2012 and will be promptly emailed & announced here on my blog.  The winner will have 72 hours to respond by email before a new winner is chosen.

Good luck!!

A Look: Out My Window™

Outmywindow erin
I was recently asked to check out this new site/app for photo sharing and I do have to say that it's pretty cool.  Now, you guys know that when ever I review anything here on my blog I always give my honest opinion, well this is no exception.

When I went to the Out My Window™ website I wanted to see what made it different then the other photo sharing sites and apps that are out there already.  One of my favorite features is that YOU control who sees your pics...which is perfect for this worried-about-sharing-kid-pics-online lady.  :)  I also like that it's really easy to use and that it sets up the organization of your photos, which always seems like the tedious part of photography to me.

Other benefits to the site/app are:

  • You can set up a FREE account here or get the iphone app here
  • You can link & import photos from social media
  • It's easy to share photos with family & friends, and the great thing is the photos can be easily downloaded by them.

And the limits are:

  • At this time it's only for photos, not video
  • You have a limit of 5GB of storage space...which really is a lot of space for free!

So go check out Out My Window™ online here, and in iTunes here.

Summer Time Kids Crafts

This summer my 6 yr old niece is staying with us so we've been doing a ton of different crafts in between seeing a good chunk of the SoCal museums and attractions.

Our first project was a journal for her to write in daily about what we've done.  It should be interesting to read back over and to also see how her writing changes with the practice.

Also, looking back through my photos you'll notice how my niece sometimes has an eye patch's to strengthen her eyes while she's doing detail work like writing, coloring, and other artsy things.

Here's a list of some of the crafty things we've done:

  • summer journal
  • weaving loom - potholder
  • pencil toppers
  • flower jar - threaded flowers onto pipe cleaners
  • hair accessories with this and this
  • rings
  • painting pictures with watercolors
  • painting a birdhouse with acrylic paint
  • coloring

...and we hope to make a T-shirt, do some finger crochet, and more!

Have fun seeing what we've been up to so far this summer & follow me on Instagram for more pics!

Yay, it's CHA time!!

In the arts & crafts industry I love two times of year...January and July...because it's CHA tradeshow time, which means that new products are rolling our way!  Lifestyle Crafts has begun rolling out their new fall collections, check them out HERE.  I have started to play with some of the new dies and I do have to say that I love them!

You know I love doilies...check out these NEW nested doilies!!!!  I die!

Here's a card I made with it and some papers by Create Paper...

To get your die to cut into a card shape you just have to fold your paper and then allow the die to be hang over the fold slightly when you run it through your die cut machine.  You can see a great example of how to do it here.

And here's how it looks on the inside of the card...

Next up is the NEW nesting frames 10...

I used some more of the same Create Papers on it and a bit of twine.  Besides using one of the NEW Nesting Frame 10, I also used one of the Fancy Envelope Tab dies, and the NEW Butterfly Punch (which comes with a boarder die and two butterfly dies).

I think this box is great to fill with gratitude cards...

I used the ticket punch border for the band around the box and then the individual ticket dies for the tickets, which I stamped with an older Imaginisce ticket stamp. All the papers are by Pink Paislee.
