Sun and Scissors

Have you heard about the Sun & Scissor Retreat?  It's in Hawaii of all places & is happening in October this year and I want to go!  Scrapbooking in Paradise sounds like just the thing for me!!  They are holding a contest for a guest teacher, so of course I entered.

Erin_Bassett-Project_Photo1My project is a mixed-media canvas panel that combines painting, screen printing (with the Yudu screen printing machine) & favorite photos to make a piece of home decor.  I think it would be so neat to inspire and teach people how to create beautiful works of art that will keep their favorite memories alive long after their vacation is over.

Oh, and all those flowers...they're handmade!  Super fun to do too!!  Here's some close-ups of my project (click on them to see them bigger):

Scrapbook Layout: My niece's first trip to the beach

EPB-LO_FirstTripBeach Here's the layout I worked on this morning.  I found the photo when I was doing a MAJOR clean up of my craft space.  I still have a bunch of other photos from our trip to the beach with my niece, but this photo really warms my heart so I needed to get this one scrapbooked right now.

EPB-LO_FirstTripBeach-CloseUp2 Tip

I punched notches in the sides of my paper with a hole punch so the string would stay in place.

Here's some close-ups...feel free to click on any of them to see them bigger.

My Blogging Journey

I started blogging August 28, 2005.  -Hard to believe it's been that long.  Almost 4 years..wow!

I decided to start blogging so I could keep a log of my projects I was working on.  After all, when a crafty geek wants to record what's she's working on how else would she do it?

Since then, I've come to realize that:

  • it's pretty impossible (at least for me) to truly write down type out EVERYTHING I create
  • I've met some REALLY cool people through my blog  (I'm still shocked when I meet people in real life & they tell me they read my blog...it's like meeting instant friends.)
  • blogging is more fun than I thought it would be
  • Keeping in touch with family & friends is an added benefit
  • it's nice to have a collection of photos & stories over the years
  • reading & following other peoples blogs is fun...who needs books anymore, LOL! (Kidding!  I still love to read books, I just don't devote as much time to it anymore.)
  • I love helping people...wither it's telling them about new products or helping them to use the ones they have.  (So keep commenting & emailing me your Yudu questions.)
  • I actually like writing....or maybe talking.  -Are they the same?  Different?

Thank you KnitPurlGurl for challenging us to tell our blogging stories.

Blog Hop '09

BlogHop09 I wanted to go to BlogHer this year, but since I didn't know how well I'd be doing post spinal surgery I decided not to go....now I kinda wish I would have just got the ticket since I'm doing so well.  But such is life!  So instead, I'm making lemonade and hooking up with the wonderful bloggers at the Blog Hop '09.

Blog Hop '09 should be REALLY fun...meet new blogger & win prizes.  Hey, this may be even better than going to BlogHer since I can do it in my PJ's if I want to!

Follow Blog Hop '09 on Twitter...and of course you can follow me too!

Farmer's Market Layout

EPB-LO_FarmersMarket

I scrapbooked this two-page layout this weekend.  I feel like something's missing design wise from it & I'm not sure what it needs...but for now it's done.  Although, the more I think about it  I may add a wider boarder of orange-ish paint or ink around the edge...right now there's a thin boarder of orange ink.

If you have any other ideas on what I should add feel free to let me know.  :D
